Our client is a leader within the Generator and Alternative Energy Industries and they are looking for a Stock Controller to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

Responsibilities include tracking shipments, overseeing inventory audits, and maintaining reports of purchases and pricing. To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with supply chain procedures and have good communication skills to interact with vendors, clients, and internal teams. This person is responsible for ensuring that goods received into or sent out from the Company are in good condition and correspond with the correct paperwork to ensure accurate stocks/records are held and customer deliveries are despatched on a right first-time basis. Ultimately, you will increase profitability and effectiveness by maintaining optimal stock levels of quality products at all times. Efficient management of stocks whether picking orders or locating stock within the warehouse. The position requires on time delivery targets are kept and Customer requirements are met. The ability to work under pressure and communicate at all levels is extremely important as is the ability to work as part of a team to enhance our service to our customers. Will be tested on Microsoft Excel – Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP & Formulas.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Forecast supply and demand to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock (OOS)
  • Enter purchase details (vendors information, invoices, and pricing) into internal databases
  • Place orders to replenish merchandise as needed
  • Track shipments and address any delays
  • Oversee storage of products, particularly of fragile items
  • Evaluate suppliers' offers and negotiate profitable deals
  • Coordinate regular inventory audits
  • Liaise with warehouse staff and other internal teams to test products' quality (status upon delivery and storage conditions)
  • Keep updated inventory records (including daily shipments)
  • Ensure purchases do not exceed budget
  • Receive goods into the company using the appropriate software.
  • Ensuring all paperwork is correct and goods received are in good order, assisting admin staff to ensure that accurate stocks are held on site.
  • Ensure a FIFO stock rotation system is operated, keep the stores in a clean and safe working condition and store goods in the right location to maximise sales and minimise waste.
  • Support our PI team by carrying out physical stock checks when necessary and maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the warehouse.
  • Maintain the warehouse and site to a safe and clean standard to ensure ease of availability of stock, keep the site clean and tidy to ensure safe working practices and to allow the site to function efficiently and comply with safety legislation.
  • Assist the production department on an as needed basis as directed by the site management team.
  • Assist in the day to day running of the transport administration process to ensure that goods are dispatched to the carrier/customer on a right first-time basis.
  • Receiving all deliveries and checking the goods received
  • Liaising with suppliers about deliveries and discrepancies in stock
  • Keeping detailed records of shortages and spares of items
  • Updating inventory management systems regularly
  • Picking and delivering goods by using a forklift
  • Organising and delivering goods from the store to the department that requires it

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (with Mathematics)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification will be an added advantage

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Proven work experience (2 – 5 years) as a Stock Controller, Inventory Manager, Warehouse Manager, or similar role
  • Good understanding of supply chain procedures
  • Excellent Computer Skills, Advanced Excel Skills
