COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

Our client is a well-established label printing company and they are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Artwork DTP Operator to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

Required to prepare print-ready artwork for label production (prepress) both for digital presses and flexographic presses. The candidate must have the ability to work efficiently under pressure. Experience in the Flexographic field is advantageous. The successful candidate will become part of a small dynamic artwork team, working in a hands-on and collaborative environment.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and set up print-ready files for production on a WS 6800 Digital Indigo Press
• Perform typesetting, layout adjustments, and artwork corrections, trapping, bleed, colour separations
• Make additions and changes to client-supplied artwork files
• Generate and send electronic proofs to clients
• Print and check physical proofs for accuracy
• Colour management
• Carry out imposition (step and repeat) and create templates for digital print jobs
• Ensure all artwork meets required print specifications and quality standards
• Occasional design work when required

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• Relevant tertiary qualification (added advantage)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Experience working with digital presses, specifically WS 6800 Digital Indigo Press (advantageous)
• Background in label printing or packaging industry
• Proficiency in: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign
• Experience working on Apple Mac systems
• Strong understanding of print production processes and preparing files for digital printing
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional, reliable, and a team player with a positive attitude
